GATE is not just about doing M.Tech. Many PSUs have started recruiting GATE score. (click here to see the PSUs who recruited using GATE score in 2013). NITIE (National Institute of Industrial Engineering) is the institute which conducts its PGDIE programme and uses GATE score for that) NITIE is one of the top institute for MBA in the country and among the premium institutes of INDIA. (in the same list comprises of IITs and IIMs)

Admission procedure :

Every candidate has to qualify through GATE “2013/2012″. This will be followed by Group Discussion and Interview of the short listed candidates to be held at NITIE, Mumbai. Candidates need to submit a photocopy of GATE score card / printout of GATE score from website.

 Selection of Industry sponsored candidates with 2 years industry experience is through personal interview only (NO GATE SCORE REQUIRED).
Application fee : 1000/-(500/-SC/ST/PD)

      AT score 570 , I thinkng you rank will be somewhere betwen 1500 - 2000. If you have good percentage record in your academic career , then there are some chances to get call from NITIE.

      Pecentage wise your percentage and CGPI is very good. But you have to clear GATE exam to get into the PGDIE course.

    I wish to get admission in NITIE in 2014 by Gate 2013 score, which is 688 from IN branch(valid for 2014 year).Presently I am working in Accenture(my work exp will be around 1 year in coming march) and my score in 10th is 75%,12 is 85% and for engineering is 76.4%.
    Do i have any chances for it?

      Hi ,There will be combined rank by merging GATE 2013 and GATE 2014 scores.Around top 1000 - 1500 students are called for further process. , According to me you have fare chances of getting a call from NITIE. All the best. :)

    Respected Sir,

    I qualified GATE 2013 with AIR 5172 in Civil engg.
    i have 92% in 12th , 81% in my 10th and 75% in B.E
    Right now i am working in Nagarjuna Construction Company as a trainee.
    Do i have a chance to get a call for GD and PI?

    Sir, for GD/PI do they look only at the GATE Score or profile as well ? My 10th is 88.33%, 12th 82.5%, B.E.-80.92% Gold medalist from my university..have abroad on site work experience in IT Industry..my technical nd managerial profile is very good.
    Also, upto what ranks in GATE do they call ? 1500 ? GATE Score formula has changed so gate scores will shoot up 90 out of 1000 compared to previous years. that is why i am asking.

      Hi Ashish ,
      There is no problem in getting a college but you have to put efforts to get good college. In general category score of 400 is not enough to crack very reputed government college. But you can try for some other good private college as well.

      There are many government institutes that conduct their own exams like IIIT bangalore , IIIT Hyderabad , IIIT Allahabad , NSIT. They also consider GATE score. So find out some colleges like this and apply for these colleges as well and don't feel depressed. There is no problem in getting admission in M. Tech because of the gap but you have to be prepared with the answer when interviewer will ask that what you did in that gap.

      Rank is directly proportional to GATE score for a branch. When it comes to judge between the candidates of different branches then GATE score is considered.

    Hello Sir,
    ★ I got 1400 rank with 720 gate score. What is the probability that i can get admission in NITIE mumbai?
    I did my B.tech in mechanical engineering with 78% in 2013 and have 84% in 10th and 86% in 12th. In 10th and 12th i got 6th place in state merit list.
    I also have 2 year gap after 12th and 1 year gap after B.tech. Is this plays a negative role? Can i get a call...Please Replyyy..

    How the same Gate score of 672 is used for all branches, means there are some branch scoring high and some are scoring low.
    Is the cutoff is decided by percentile or gate score.

      GATE score is the criterion to judge the students of different streams as the rank may vary depending upon the number of students appearing in the particular stream GATE exam. The formula to calculate the GATE score handles itself all the parameters. Percentile cannot be the criterion as there are some branches in which a very less number of students appear like (Textile and others) while in some branches like (CS,EC,ME) a lot of candidates appear. SO GATE score use to be the criterion.

      Generally the major criterion use to be the GATE score. In past years the first screening of candidates is done on the basis of GATE score. so at GATE score of 423 , I doubt that you will get the call for GD/PI. But as you have good experience in on of the best PSU of the country , you can try your luck and hope for the best.
